WE ALL PLAY FOLK

The program of the ninth edition of the festival consists of 20 cultural and educational projects, thematically connected by the main idea – contemporary creativity of young people based on folklore and national traditions of many countries and ethnic groups in the world.

This year’s edition of the festival is to inspire young people to create works based on the cultural heritage of Poland. The folklore of Łódź and the cultural richness of folklore regions of Lodz Voivodship will be the leading themes of artistic inspirations prepared by young people from different cultures of the world during innovative festival events.

“WE ALL PLAY FOLK!” – a series of outdoor activities: concerts and exhibitions promoting the idea of the festival as well as folklore, ethnic and folk traditions of different nations, prepared by foreign festival participants from different countries around the world.

Artistic action “Folk for peace!” - a concert of music, choreography and vocal groups from different countries of the world, inspired by the folklore of their nations. Happening with the participation of residents and tourists visiting Łódź, thematically referring to promoting tolerance towards other cultures, fighting against hatred and xenophobia, openness to other people and peace in the world. A symbolic circle of people who understand cultural differences, care for national traditions, who respect other cultures, in a common multicultural dance, ended with the spectacle of the fire theatre.

There will be the following events:

Exhibitions “People. Cultures. Clothes” – exhibitions of young photographers, artists and designers of fashion bags, thematically related to folklore, traditions, costumes and landscapes testifying the cultural heritage of people in the world.

Music experiments “Playing-dancing-folk! “- music and choreographic workshops, during which music and dance groups from different countries will prepare a piece and will present this project on the selected festival scene.

“Folk on the screen” – creative activities of young TV and press journalists as well as photoreporters dealing with the subject of folklore inspiration, interculturality, promotion of creativity of interesting artistic groups. The material will be presented in media and to audience on festival screens. There will also be “Folk TV Studio” and “Photo-folk-atelier”.

“2019 GOLDEN BOAT” – competitions for festival participants. There are the categories: Vocal, Choreography, Music, Fashion, Photo, Video, Theatre, Inspiration. Presentation of winners and giving out awards during festival concerts, vernissages or summaries of educational projects.

“Folk – energy – you!” – activities of groups of volunteers – animators of culture and education, organisers and foreign volunteers, who support concert activities and other artistic festival events. Volunteers are trained during trainings and consultations with task coordinators.

Debate of leaders of the international cooperation network “Together for Youth” on “Youth and folk traditions” – discussion of people performing various functions in institutions, organizations, event groups, artistic agencies, implementing activities among children and youth searching for forms, methods, modern solutions in the field of artistic education. Exchange of experience, materials, establishing partnerships.
